Fly Fishing in Nova Scotia Canada at the Legendary Milford House; We have a long history of receiving guests for the sole purpose of Fly Fishing for over a 100 years avid fishermen and women have used our facilities as their base to explore and fish the surrounding rivers, streams, and lakes.

A great book to read The Tent Dwellers is a book by Albert Bigelow Paine, chronicling his travels through inland Nova Scotia on a trout fishing trip with Dr. Edward “Eddie” Breck, in the early 1900′s with guides Charles “the Strong” (Charlie Charlton of Milford, NS) and Del “the Stout” (Del Thomas of Milford, NS)

With a history of guides Like Charles “the Strong” and Del “the Stout” who guided many a Milford House Guests into the backcountry how could we not keep this great tradition alive offering our services and those of local guides to give you the opportunity to have a firsthand experience fishing our local hot spots.

After meeting your guide, he will take you out for a full day of fishing. Your guide will focus on your group’s needs and will lead you to some of his favored haunts, we encourage you to express any particular requests you might have for the day up front so your guide can give you the best possible service. Lunch is included and typically eaten along the river side.

We typically meet at 9:30 am in the main lodge. Depending upon conditions, your guide will alter the meeting place and or time to coincide with the best possible fishing or to accommodate your schedule.

Our “On the Water Introductory to Fly Fishing” Program

Is designed in mind for the beginner as well as intermediate fly fishing enthusiast arriving Friday evening or Saturday morning we will start off with a seminar to go over gear preparation, we will assist you in preparing your rod, reel and line along with fly selection, this introduction is to familiarize you with some of the general terms and the proper names of the equipment that will be used during the following days.

This is a great weekend of not only instruction by of fishing as well, we have always believed that the best way to learn is get out there and give it a try with our seasoned experts to lend a hand we guarantee you’ll come away with a wealth of knowledge and an experience that won’t be soon forgotten.
